Being raised in the country, I’ve always enjoyed being in the outdoors.

Growing up, I would also dabble with photography. This process has always been magical to me. I did not “get it” until later in life after taking some basic photograph classes. Once I understood the effects that different lenses, shutter speeds, aperture settings and light would have and a way to work with them, I was really hooked.

I learned to combine this with my love of the outdoors to create one of the biggest passions of my life. Not only do I love photographing special places in nature but have enjoyed the experience of being there to do it.

It is such a passion that even though I am not a morning person, I will go to the effort of getting up super early to be on site for the best light.

It is such a passion that I wish I could go a week at a time with no need for food or sleep. These can be such annoyances when there is so much to photograph.

After the sun has set, I’ve found that night photography has its own challenges and rewards. It’s another world which requires one to learn a different set of camera skills.

I enjoy seeing other peoples work. Each person has their own “eye” for a topic and it often inspires me to get out and shoot.

My favorite places to shoot are in the Southeastern United States, where I live. I also look forward to my occasional sojourns to other places of wonder like the Southwestern United States.
